My name is Ms.Stacey Fernandez. I was a teacher at Oliveira Middle School from 2006-2019. I am currently teaching at Veterans Early College High School since Fall of 2019 -present.
I was born in New Orleans, LA. I have lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, St.Mary’s, GA, Tampa, FL, Mobile, AL, Fayetteville, NC and Brownsville, TX. I come from a military family with 20+ years of service. As a teenager, I first came to Brownsville, TX in the middle of my 8th grade year, and I attended Oliveira Middle and Hanna High School. I graduated from UTB in 2005 with a B.A. in History and minor in Government. In 2009, I received my Speech Disorders and Communications degree from The Texas Woman’s University. I enjoy traveling the world and bringing my experiences back to the classroom. I have visited many major U.S. cities, many cities in Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Netherlands, Germany, Italy,UK, France,China, and Thailand.
My goals as a teacher are to give history relevance and importance in my student’s lives and to inspire them to be hard working, appreciative, independent, and well rounded citizens with a good foundation in Social Studies.. I created this website to help both students and parents during the school year.
I am devoted to the development of student learning and success. My goal is to ensure a student friendly and safe environment where my students can learn and be encouraged to do their best. I believe collaboration among teachers, staff, students, parents and the community is the key to success.
